Quick answer
THCA is the acid form of THC in hemp, and heat converts it into delta-9 THC. THC-P is a separate, naturally occurring cannabinoid identified in 2019; it binds strongly to CB1 receptors in lab research and is generally regarded as potent. FVKD Exotics sells both, so start low with THC-P and check each batch's COA.

THCA vs THCP is the main cannabinoid choice across the FVKD Exotics range. THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the natural acid form of THC that becomes delta-9 THC when heated. THC-P (tetrahydrocannabiphorol), often written THCP, is a separate cannabinoid that researchers identified in 2019 and that is generally regarded as potent. FVKD uses THCA in seven lines and THC-P in three. This guide explains what separates them, what that means for strength and effects, and what to know about legality before you buy.
THCA vs THCP: the short answer
THCA and THC-P are different molecules with different reputations. THCA is best known as the raw precursor to delta-9 THC, while THC-P is best known for its potency.
| Question | THCA | THC-P |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid | Tetrahydrocannabiphorol |
| What it is | The acid form of THC that the plant produces naturally | A naturally occurring cannabinoid, distinct from THC |
| Known since | Recognized for decades as THC’s precursor | Identified by researchers in 2019 |
| What heat does | Converts it into delta-9 THC (decarboxylation) | Not an acid precursor like THCA |
| Strength reputation | Depends largely on the delta-9 THC it forms when heated | Generally regarded as potent; binds strongly to CB1 receptors in lab research |
| FVKD vape lines | Live Rosin THCA, THCA Sugar, Premium (all 3.5g); Live Rosin Minis (1.5g) | Live Rosin THC-P, Crumble THCP (both 3.5g) |
| FVKD pre-roll lines | Diamond Infused Hash Holez, Naked Holez THCA (2g x2) | Naked Holez THCP (2g x2) |
| Other FVKD formats | Live Rosin Dab Syringes | None in the range we carry |
What is THCA?
THCA is the form THC takes inside a growing or freshly harvested cannabis plant. It is an acid, and in that raw state it is generally described as non-intoxicating.
Heat changes that. When THCA is heated, it sheds a carboxyl group and becomes delta-9 THC, a process called decarboxylation. Lighting a pre-roll or heating a vape’s contents drives the conversion, which is why THCA products are made to be heated.
You’ll see this on a lab report. A COA typically lists THCA and delta-9 THC as separate results, and many labs add a total THC figure that estimates how much delta-9 THC the sample could yield once heated.
FVKD’s THCA range runs from the 1.5g Live Rosin Minis and the 3.5g Live Rosin THCA, THCA Sugar and Premium disposables to Diamond Infused Hash Holez and Naked Holez THCA pre-rolls. If the pre-roll names are unfamiliar, our guide to what a hash hole is explains them.

What is THC-P?
THC-P, short for tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is a cannabinoid that occurs naturally in cannabis. Researchers identified it in 2019, which makes it one of the newest cannabinoids on the market.
In lab research, THC-P binds strongly to CB1 receptors. CB1 receptors belong to the body’s endocannabinoid system and sit mainly in the brain and central nervous system; they are the receptors most closely associated with THC’s familiar effects. That strong binding is a large part of why THC-P is generally regarded as potent.
Because it was identified so recently, THC-P has had far less time under study than THC. The practical takeaway is to start low, especially if you’re switching from a THCA product. FVKD carries it in Live Rosin THC-P Disposables, Crumble THCP Disposables and Naked Holez THCP Pre-Rolls.
Is THC-P stronger than THCA?
THC-P has the stronger reputation. It is generally regarded as potent, and its strong CB1 binding in lab research is why it is usually approached with more caution than THCA products. Still, no fixed ratio tells you how one FVKD device compares with another.
Three things decide how strong a specific product feels:
- How much cannabinoid is in the batch. That’s on the COA, not in the product name.
- How much you take. Draw length, the number of draws and the time between them add up quickly.
- Your own tolerance. Someone used to THCA products may still find THC-P quite different. Effects vary from person to person.
The honest answer, then: treat THC-P with extra caution until you know how it affects you, and compare products by their COAs rather than by marketing terms.
Which FVKD products use THCA and which use THC-P?
FVKD uses THCA in seven lines and THC-P in three, and the formats differ. Every line below is sold as a single, with the multi-pack shown.
| Line | Cannabinoid | Format and size | Strains | Multi-pack | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Live Rosin THCA Disposables | THCA | Disposable, 3.5g | 15 | 6-pack | $25.99 |
| THCA Sugar Disposables | THCA | Disposable, 3.5g | 9 | 6-pack | $25.99 |
| Premium Disposables | THCA | Disposable, 3.5g | 12 | 6-pack | $35.99 |
| Live Rosin Minis | THCA | Disposable, 1.5g | 9 | 5-pack | $15.99 |
| Diamond Infused Hash Holez | THCA | Pre-roll, 2g x2 | 6 | 10-pack | $16.99 |
| Naked Holez THCA | THCA | Pre-roll, 2g x2 | 6 | 10-pack | $13.99 |
| Live Rosin THC-P Disposables | THC-P | Disposable, 3.5g | 9 | 6-pack | $27.99 |
| Crumble THCP Disposables | THC-P | Disposable, 3.5g | 6 | 6-pack | $27.99 |
| Naked Holez THCP | THC-P | Pre-roll, 2g x2 | 6 | 10-pack (Jack Herer: 6-pack) | $13.99 |
The seventh THCA line is the Live Rosin Dab Syringes, a concentrate format rather than a ready-to-use disposable.
Two patterns stand out. Every THC-P vape in FVKD’s range is a 3.5g device, so there is no smaller THC-P vape along the lines of the Minis. If you want a THC-P product that isn’t a full-size vape, the Naked Holez THCP pre-roll is the alternative.
Same strain, THCA or THC-P
Several strains come in both cannabinoids, which is the most direct way to compare THCA vs THC-P without giving up a flavor you already know.
Alaskan Thunder, Blackberry Kush and Sour Diesel also come as Naked Holez pre-rolls in both cannabinoids. The Naked Holez and live rosin pairs are the cleanest comparisons, because the line and size stay the same and only the cannabinoid changes. Pairs that cross lines, such as Sunset Sherbet or Blue Dream, change the extract style as well.
THCA vs THC-P effects: what FVKD says
FVKD publishes effect words for some products, and those are the only effect descriptions we repeat. They reflect FVKD’s view of a flavor, not a promise, and effects vary from person to person.
On the THC-P side, FVKD describes Blackberry Kush Live Rosin THC-P as calm, Sunset Sherbet Live Rosin THC-P as calm and balanced, and Pink Champagne Live Rosin THC-P with the words calm and energy. Most other THC-P products carry no published effect words.
The THCA range has more descriptions to work with. FVKD calls the Tangerine Dream Mini euphoric and energizing, Jet Fuel Gelato Premium energizing and focused, and Cherry Pie Hash Holez calm, mellow and soothing.
Read effect words as a hint about a flavor’s character, and read the cannabinoid as the bigger signal for how carefully to dose. A THC-P product described as calm still calls for a low start.
How to start low with THC-P
If THC-P is new to you, begin with less than you’d normally take and give it time. These general steps apply to vapes and pre-rolls alike:
- Read the packaging and warnings for your specific product first.
- Take one short draw rather than several in a row.
- Wait before deciding on another, since effects can keep building for a while.
- Don’t assume your usual THCA routine carries over to THC-P.
- Don’t drive or operate machinery afterward, and don’t mix it with alcohol.
- Store every product out of reach of children and pets.
If you plan to try the same strain in both cannabinoids, do it on separate occasions so you can tell them apart.
How to read a COA for THCA vs THCP products
A certificate of analysis is the lab report for one batch, and it’s the only place to see what a specific product actually contains. Read it before comparing strength across the two cannabinoids.
- Batch match: the batch or lot number on the COA should match the one on your packaging.
- Cannabinoid panel: for THCA products, find THCA, delta-9 THC and any total THC figure; for THC-P products, check whether and how THC-P is reported.
- Delta-9 THC result: the 2018 Farm Bill hemp definition is based on this figure; the legal section below covers the scheduled change.
- Contaminant screening: look for panels such as residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals and microbials, and note which ones the lab actually ran.
- Lab and date: a named testing lab and a recent test date make the report easier to rely on.
If a report is missing a panel you care about, or the batch doesn’t match, contact us before using the product.
Vape or pre-roll: does the format change the comparison?
The format changes how the cannabinoid is heated, not which cannabinoid you get. A THCA vape and a THCA pre-roll both rely on heat to convert THCA into delta-9 THC; the THC-P lines are simply THC-P in a vape or pre-roll.
A disposable vape heats its contents without burning them, while a pre-roll is lit and combusted. Both are inhaled, and inhaled products are generally felt sooner than edibles, which makes pacing easier: you can judge one draw before deciding on the next.
Size shapes the commitment. A 3.5g disposable is designed for many sessions, and FVKD lists its pre-rolls as 2g x2. If you want to compare THCA vs THC-P in a format you can finish sooner, the Naked Holez pre-roll twins are the natural pair.
Storing THCA and THC-P products
Keep both cannabinoids cool, dark and sealed. Heat, light and air gradually degrade cannabinoids and the terpenes that carry flavor, and warmth can slowly start converting THCA before you ever use it.
A drawer or cabinet away from windows, car dashboards and other heat sources works well for vapes and pre-rolls alike. Keep products in their original packaging so the batch details stay with them, which also keeps the matching COA easy to find. Our guide to storing FVKD vapes and pre-rolls covers heat, cold and travel in more detail.
Is THCA or THC-P legal?
Both are sold as hemp-derived products, but whether you can buy and use them depends on federal law, your state and sometimes your city, and the rules are changing. What follows is general information, not legal advice.
The 2018 Farm Bill defines hemp as cannabis with no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC on a dry-weight basis. THCA products have been sold under that definition because THCA is not delta-9 THC until it is heated.
That is set to change. Federal law passed in November 2025 changes the federal hemp definition to count total THC, including THCA, and limits intoxicating hemp products, with the change scheduled to take effect in November 2026. Check the current federal position before you buy.
States regulate hemp-derived cannabinoids in their own ways, and some handle cannabinoids such as THC-P differently from THCA. State laws differ and change, so check your own state and local law.
Our store policy is simple: fvkdvapes.com ships within the US only, to adults 21 and over, and does not ship to AR, HI, ID, KS, LA, OK, OR, RI, UT or VT. Shipping to your state doesn’t make a product legal where you live. Read Is FVKD legal? and our shipping policy for more.
THCA or THC-P: which should you choose?
Choose THCA for the widest range and the smallest starting sizes; choose THC-P only if you’re experienced and ready to start low.
- Widest choice: THCA covers seven lines, including 1.5g and 3.5g vapes, two pre-roll lines and dab syringes.
- A smaller first purchase: a 1.5g Gelonade Live Rosin Mini or another Mini keeps the commitment low.
- Experienced and curious: THC-P comes in two 3.5g vape lines and one pre-roll line.
- A direct comparison: the Jack Herer Naked Holez pre-roll comes in THCA and THCP versions with the same line and size.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Is THC-P stronger than THCA?
THC-P has the stronger reputation. It is a naturally occurring cannabinoid, identified in 2019, that binds strongly to CB1 receptors in lab research and is generally regarded as potent. THCA becomes delta-9 THC when heated. How strong a particular FVKD product feels depends on the batch, your dose and your tolerance, so check the COA and start low with THC-P.
Does THCA get you high?
Raw THCA is generally described as non-intoxicating, but heat changes it. Vaping or smoking converts THCA into delta-9 THC, the cannabinoid associated with a high, which is why FVKD's THCA disposables and pre-rolls are made to be heated. Effects vary from person to person, and you must be 21 or older to buy.
Which FVKD vapes have THC-P?
FVKD's THC-P vapes come in two 3.5g lines: Live Rosin THC-P Disposables with 9 strains and Crumble THCP Disposables with 6. Both are sold as a single or a 6-pack. FVKD also makes Naked Holez THCP pre-rolls in 6 strains, sold as 2g x2. There is no THC-P version of the 1.5g Live Rosin Minis.
Is THC-P natural?
THC-P occurs naturally in cannabis, and researchers identified it in 2019. FVKD doesn't describe how the THC-P in its products is sourced or produced in the product facts we carry, so we don't make claims about it. For batch-level detail, read the COA linked from the product page, or contact us with your question.
Can I try the same FVKD strain in THCA and THC-P?
Yes. Jack Herer, Skywalker OG, Lemon Cherry Gelato, Alaskan Thunder, Blackberry Kush and Sour Diesel each come as Naked Holez pre-rolls in both THCA and THCP. Alaskan Thunder, Space Cake and Fruit Punch also come as live rosin disposables in both cannabinoids. Try the two versions on separate occasions, and start low with THC-P.
Is THCA legal in my state?
It depends on your state and local law, which differ and change. The 2018 Farm Bill defines hemp by its delta-9 THC content, but a federal change counting total THC, including THCA, is scheduled for November 2026. We don't ship to AR, HI, ID, KS, LA, OK, OR, RI, UT or VT. Check your own state and local law.
Should a beginner buy THCA or THC-P?
Consider starting with THCA. THC-P is generally regarded as potent, and FVKD's THCA range includes smaller options such as the 1.5g Live Rosin Minis, available in 9 strains that all carry an FVKD strain-type label. If you choose THC-P, take one short draw and wait before taking another. Effects vary from person to person.
